Sono Friedrich. Sono tedesco. Sono nato e cresciuto nella regione situata al confine tra Germania, Belgio e Olanda. Sono europeo. Un europeo critico. Un europeo insoddisfatto. Sono convinto che non si possa continuare così. La Commissione Europea sta facendo degli errori. Il governo italiano sta facendo degli errori.
Ma perché questo dovrebbe dividerci? Perché farci separare?
“L’Unione Europea” è molto di più di Juncker e i suoi. È molto di più di una Banca Centrale Europea che fa scelte sbagliate riguardo alla gestione del debito. L’UE è sinonimo di pace e condivisione. Tra tedeschi e italiani, tra me e te. Siamo tutti europei e lo dobbiamo ai sacrifici die nostri genitori e nonni, che hanno voluto regalarci la pace. Le generazioni precedenti si sono fatte la guerra. Beviamoci una birra o un bicchiere di vino insieme e parliamone. Parliamo degli elementi che ci uniscono e che vanno protetti. Parliamo di cosa possiamo fare insieme per un’Europa migliore. Facciamoci un selfie insieme e mostriamo a tutto il mondo che l’Europa è unita nella diversità.

I am Friedrich. I’m from Germany. I was born and raised in the border region of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. I am European. I am a critical European. I am dissatisfied European. I’m against the “business as usual!”. The European Commission is making mistakes. The German government is making mistakes. The Italian government is making mistakes.
But why should that separate us? Why should we split up?
“The EU” is more than a commission from Juncker and his people. “The EU” is more than a European Central Bank and bad debt policy. The EU stands for peace and community. You are Italian and I am German – We are Europeans. Our grandparents and parents have invested a lot. They gave us peace. Our ancestors fought against each other. Let’s go and have a beer or a wine together – and then we’ll talk. We talk about what connects us and how we protect it. What we can do together for a better Europe. Let’s take a selfie and show the world that Europe is united in diversity.

Ich bin Friedrich. Ich bin aus Deutschland. Ich bin in der Grenzregion von Deutschland, Belgien und den Niederlanden geboren und aufgewachsen. Ich bin Europäer. Ich bin kritischer Europäer. Aber: Wieso sollte das uns trennen? Wieso sollten wir uns spalten lassen?
„Die EU“ ist mehr als eine Kommission von Juncker und seinen Leuten. „Die EU“ ist mehr als eine Europäische Zentralbank und die schlechte Schuldenpolitik. Die EU steht für Frieden und Gemeinsamkeit. Du als Italiener und ich als Deutscher. Wir sind Europäer. Dafür haben unsere Großeltern und Eltern viel investiert. Sie schenkten uns Frieden. Unsere Vorfahren kämpften gegeneinander. Lass und ein Bier oder einen Wein zusammen trinken – und dann sprechen wir. Wir sprechen darüber, was uns verbindet und wie wir das schützen. Was wir gemeinsam für ein besseres Europa machen können. Lass uns ein Selfie machen und der Welt zeigen, dass Europa in Vielfalt geeint ist.
